I’m Michael Hutchinson – welcome to the site. For those of you who don’t already know, I’m a writer and journalist, and bike racer, originally from Northern Ireland, but now living in southern England.
My most recent book is Hello Sailor, about the world of competitive sailing, published in April 2009. Before that was The Hour, from 2006, which recounted an attempt I made on cycling’s world Hour Record. I’ve provided more details on the Books page, and some links to Amazon so that there will be as little as possible standing in your way should you want to buy either or both of them.
Before my writing career, I was a full-time racing cyclist, competing mainly in the British time-trialling scene – see my cycling page.
And way before any of that, I was an academic lawyer, specialising in international human rights law. The only remaining vestige of that career is an ability to start an argument with anyone on any topic. Still, time well spent, I’m sure you’ll agree.
